Celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, Variety – The Children’s Charity of Alberta is looking for individuals at the board level to bring new energy to the group. Strategic thinkers who can bring previous board experience to the organization would be a tremendous benefit as they are in the midst of a rebuilding stage in terms of both the board and organization itself.
Established in 1982 by Ed and Nomi Whalen, Variety’s vision has always been to enrich the lives of children with special needs by enabling them and their families. Enabling them through special services, medical treatment, special equipment and food; whatever the families may need. With these services comes the need for continual funding in order to meet the high demand. Variety is therefore looking for people with fundraising / event planning experience.
The perfect candidate will be someone who has empathy and understanding for mentally and physically challenged children and their families who cope with the challenges before them. A strategic thinker with previous board experience and lots of energy. Time commitment will be approximately 3 – 5 hours per month with board terms lasting two years.
